Ever wonder what makes our candles and wax melts burn so clean? It's all about the soy wax! Made from soybeans, it's a natural, renewable resource that offers a longer, cleaner burn than traditional paraffin. That means less soot and more pure fragrance for your space! Another interesting fact about soy wax is that a large portion of the world's soybeans are grown right here in America!
According to CandleScience the way soy wax is made is by first harvesting the soybeans, then the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. After extracting the oil from the soybean flakes it goes through the hydrogenation process. This turns the soybean oil into a wax that can be used to create candles and wax melts.
The reason we choose to use soy wax in our candles and our wax melts is because of the numerous benefits it offers over paraffin wax (which is made from petroleum, coal, or oil shale FYI). Being made from soybeans means this wax is completely renewable and sustainable, limited only by the amount of soybeans being farmed. It is a biodegradable wax that doesn't release harmful chemicals when burned. Using soy wax makes our candles and wax melts burn longer and slower, offering you more bang for your buck! Lastly, my personal favorite benefit of soy wax is that the scent holds consistent throughout the life of the candle.
